Mean Max 19.2c -0.4c
Mean Min 13.6c +1.5c
Mean 16.4c +0.6c
Rainfall 124mm 146%

Recorded my highest August temperature since 2004 (which was last August that reached 80f here). Overall warmest August since 2008 , b ut still a poor attempt of a summer month.

I think the Davis may have missed around 20 mm of rain over the wet weekend due to a partially blocked gauge so I supect total should be closer to 145 mm.

August was a warm but very wet month. The average maximum temperature was 20.9C, making it the warmest August since 2003. After a hot start, temperatures fell during the middle of the month with many days below 20C. However for Bank Holiday weekend it became hot again with the hottest day of the month on the 25th at 30.6C. This was the first August with a high above 30C since 2003. Night temperatures were rather warm with only two nights (the 12th and 13th) below 10C.

The total rainfall for August was 199.3mm, the second wettest August I have recorded since 1987. (The wettest August was 2004 with 218.9mm). Several days had quite large totals of rainfall but the wettest was the 10th with 57.4mm. This was the third wettest day I have ever recorded. (It was also the day we had our Golden Wedding celebration where we had hoped to make use of the garden!) The last week of the month was less wet, allowing river levels to fall again.

Quite amazing monthly total for a summer month. The wettest since December 2015, at 247mm. This included 105mm on the 9th to the 11th. The first half of the month was wettest, but it rained on more days in the second half. Hoping for a drier September.
