October 2018

Post by Anne » Fri Nov 02, 2018 11:57 am

October was slightly cooler than average and the coolest since 2012, although one warm day, the 10th, had a high of 22.6C. The last week of the month saw maximum temperatures below 10C and feeling cold in north and east winds. There were four air frosts, all at the end of the month with a minimum of -3.6C on the night of the 28th/29th.

The total rainfall during October was 88.5mm, which is about average for the month. However we saw the wettest day since July 2013 on the 13th when rain all day gave a total of 46.6mm, the third wettest day I have recorded in Scotby. The 12th was also a wet day with 13.4mm so the two days together, with a total of 60mm, made up a large proportion of October’s rain. From the 17th until the end of the month it remained mostly dry.
