Here's my April weather summary, delayed because I was away from 29th April. **memo to self ..... organise holidays to go away AFTER the month end!!!**

After such a mild and pleasant March, April came as a shock because it was significantly colder and wetter than March. The only other time in my records this happened was in 1989 (the coldest April in my records) and the differences then were not so marked. The average maximum temperature for April was 11.6C, which was 2C lower than March. The least cold April day was the 30th with a maximum of 14.7C. There were seven air frosts, all during the first half of the month. The coldest night was the 5th with a low of -3.2C.

The rainfall total for April was 82.2mm, which is about 50% above the April average. It was the wettest April since 1994. There were 22 days with rain, the wettest being the 10th with 17.4mm. There was some snow on the 3rd, but it did not settle in Scotby.
