AUTUMN IS THE NEW WINTER?

Post by darrog » Thu Nov 18, 2010 6:13 pm

Today, 18.11.10. is the 13th successive day when the temp' fails to attain 10c - within the next 24hrs the months mean temp' will probably drop to below 6c.

It as been feeling cold for a while now, snow on the hills (I know that's not unsurprising for Nov') - but that period below 10c takes me back to winter when i had a 66 day spell without getting to 10c.

whatever way it's going to be a cold 2010.

Next week certainly looks cool. At least Cumbria should see some brighter skies in the easterly flow.

I can see those 13 days easily becoming 20

All indications are for it to get colder all week, snow shower from midweek onwards possible even at low levels.

850mb temperature predictions are for them to get as cold as they ever did last winter.

May even see my first November snow cover here ever if we can import some ppt!

It is cold
Mean montly temp now 5.7c
Max' so far today of 3.8c
16th day that doesn't reach 10c (when will we see that again?)

I know the meteorological winter begins on 1.12.10. but I would suggest that winter as already begun.
